May is national Older Americans Month. Family Eldercare will join with thousands of senior services and advocacy groups across the country to celebrate the contributions of older adults. This rapidly growing group continues to add to the richness of our communities through work, volunteerism, community leadership and other vital roles.
Each year the U.S. Administration on Aging sets the theme for Older Americans Month (2013 is "Unleash the Power of Age") and leads the effort on the national level with activities, events and outreach.

Family Eldercare works to lift up vulnerable seniors who face the loss of independence, dignity or safety without some intervention. Too often our seniors are placed in institutionalized care, become homebound or isolated, or even suffer from financial abuse, neglect or other dangerous situations.
The amazing people we serve are often left behind or forgotten. Our mission is not only to keep that from happening, but also to allow them to "Unleash the Power" of their own age - to connect with others in our community, to contribute their valuable skills and experience to others and help us shape a senior-friendly community with multi-generational payoffs.
Follow Family Eldercare on Facebook and Twitter to learn more about how we are helping local seniors "Unleash the Power of Age" and celebrate the wonderful gifts they give the Central Texas community.
The groundbreaking Amplify Austin fundraising event (organized by our friends at I Live Here I Give Here), raised NEARLY $3 MILLION for Central Texas charities! Well over 20,000 gifts were made in 24 hours to beat their original $1 million goal.
We were thrilled and humbled to watch donations designated for Family Eldercare roll in - eventually totalling $21,245!
201 individual donations contributed to that amount, and THAT'S NOT ALL! We were also thrilled to win a $1,000 Booster prize for Most Donors during one of the final hours of the campaign. Special thanks to The Garden Room for providing that prize. Additional matching dollars from our sustaining partner the St. David's Foundation are still being tallied, but will significantly increase the total raised to serve seniors, adults with disabilities and their caregivers.
What a great moment for our community! Thank you to all of the donors who participated, and especially to those who chose to give to Family Eldercare.
