30th Anniversary Celebration

Hundreds of friends, volunteers, clients and community leaders came together on September 6th at Austin's stunning Long Center to celebrate Family Eldercare's 30th Anniversary!

Guests enjoyed stirring photo exhibitions from our Changing Face of Central Texas photography contest, and from noted photographer Sarah Wilson.

We were also thrilled to honor three very special people for their outstanding contributions to Family Eldercare and to the amazing people we serve every day. They are:

More information about our 30th Anniversary Year

This year Family Eldercare celebrates 30 years of service to the Central Texas community! During that time we have become one of the most-trusted and well-respected sources of care, resources, guidance and leadership on the issue of aging in our area. As we enter our 30th year of service we are poised to continue in that role of leadership – guiding and informing the community as we prepare to meet the needs of the fastest growing population of seniors in the nation. To mark this new era, we are excited to announce a slate of events, projects and opportunities for the community to learn about and engage in our work to help seniors and adults with disabilities live with independence and dignity. More events and activities are in the works. Please stay tuned, or sign up for our enewsletter above to get the most current information on our 30th Anniversary Year.

This innovative series of workshops, trainings and lectures will cover a range of topics from practical to inspirational. Our goal is to not only provide vital skills and training, but also insight into the groundbreaking work happening around the issues of aging and independence around the world. The Institute is open to the community, including professionals working with seniors and adults with disabilities in a variety of settings (CEU’s available). The Changing Face of Aging in Central Texas Photography Contest April 23 – June 23

The Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area has the fastest growing population of adults aged 55-64 in the nation, and the third-fastest population of people 65 and older. That represents a dramatic shift in the landscape and demographics of our community over the next decade. The traditional Austin “spirit” embraces challenges with generosity, innovation and creativity. We hope to inspire such a response by engaging artists to help us communicate the mission of Family Eldercare visually. Beginning April 23, we will invite photographers to submit images of older adults in our The Changing Face of Aging in Central Texas photography contest. We are thrilled and honored to have four of America’s pre-eminent photography experts as our judges panel. This is a singular opportunity to both elevate the conversation about aging in our community using photography, and to submit your work to such an distinguished group. Visit The Changing Face of Aging in Central Texas Photography Contest page to learn more about the judges, process, rules and prizes. The contest will culminate in a showing of winning images in late summer/early fall.
